“Marty Supreme”, a movie about the well-known sport, table tennis, was released Dec. 25. Many movie watchers were excited for the release of this movie because of the actors such as Timothée Chalamet and Tyler Gregory Okonma, others know him as “Tyler the Creator”. Other people also liked its 1950s New York timeline; the Bronx setting provides a window into the fashion and daily lives of the period.
In the movie, the main character Marty is a very talented table tennis player. He is a charming and reckless character and has confidence in his table tennis skills like no other. Marty lived in New York during the year 1950, he wanted to be the world champion of table tennis by competing against the Japanese world champion Endo in London. Marty is played by the well-known actor Timothée Chalamet, who did a standout performance for the role.
Timothée’s performance playing Marty was amazing; he had such a great approach with the character and you could feel the moments that were chaotic. His acting really gives you a great idea of how the character feels and how he responds to his challenges.
The storyline was great and the fact that Marty, who was a bit irresponsible, learns to be a better and reliable man towards the end of the movie after facing some scary and hard challenges throughout the story.
Some things that were bad in the movie was how it showed more of his challenges and problems with people in his life than his problems with table tennis and trying to be the best player by beating the world champion. There was one problem after another and he didn’t resolve some of the problems.
Overall, it was a great movie with some exciting action and intense table tennis, but there were some gaps to fill in the movie. Some would say that Marty Supreme could be the movie of the year and that Timothée Chalamet could win an Oscar for his acting in this movie. I liked the movie a lot and I think it could be movie of the year compared to other movies released in 2025. I would recommend this movie to anyone who likes to watch movies and table tennis.
