The third episode of “Euphoria” builds so much tension and dives deeper into the characters’ emotions and relationships. One of the coolest moments I saw in this episode and the one before it is the cameo from Rosalía. She is a Latin singer, with top hits hitting the billboards and she has worked alongside the Weeknd and many other amazing artists. Seeing her appear at the end of episode 2 and the beginning of episode 3 added a unique and unexpected surprise.
This episode also made me feel really bad for Maddy. She seems genuinely sad, but I feel like it’s not necessarily because she misses Nate. Instead, it feels like her pain and the look in her eyes comes from betrayal from her best friend who is now with Nate and even married now, which makes it much more complicated and emotional. You can tell she’s trying to process everything, and it gives her character more depth.
At the same time, there were moments that I found funny even if it was a serious situation. Some of these included moments like when Cassie was more worried about her white dress getting stained with her blood than being concerned about the guys pushing her who Nate owes money to. It showed where her priorities were in that moment and added a bit of awkward comedy to a serious situation.
The episode ends on a very intense note when Bishop and Rue go to Laurie’s house to get payback for Laurie sending a pig back to Alamo’s club. Rue tells Alamo that Laurie has a parrot that she loves, so he decided to send the two characters to poison the parrot. That final scene leaves things on a cliffhanger and sets up major consequences for what might happen next. After we see the parrot start to suffocate, fall and die next to a sleeping Laurie.
