The Golden Globes are one of the most anticipated award ceremonies in Hollywood, spotlighting some of the most talented performers in television and movies. This year’s Golden Globes award ceremony was held on Jan. 11 at the Beverly Hilton. It’s no secret that the film industry has struggled in recent years, with the growth of streaming platforms and the 2023 Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike, but 2025 was a year full of redemption. In fact, many of the pictures released in the past year were extremely popular, some examples being “KPop Demon Hunters” and “Wicked: For Good“.
Nikki Glaser, known for her sarcastic jokes and work in comedy, hosted the Golden Globes for the second time in a row this year. On social media, Glaser has been praised for her blunt honesty at the ceremony, calling out some of the most controversial behavior in the acting community.
Many celebrities in attendance took the opportunity to dress for the occasion, with Miley Cyrus wearing Saint Laurent and Elle Fanning wearing Gucci. The most talked-about look from the evening was Jennifer Lopez’s nude, vintage Jean-Louis Scherrer dress.
The Golden Globes honors achievements in 28 different categories. The Best Podcast award was added this year as a new category, with the winner being “Good Hang with Amy Poehler“. Some of the other notable winners were Owen Cooper, who won Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role on Television for his role in “Adolescence“. At just sixteen years old, Cooper is the youngest individual to win a Golden Globe.
“Sinners“, which featured Michael B. Jordan and Hailee Steinfeld, was nominated alongside films like “Zooptopia 2″ and “Avatar: Fire and Ash” for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement and won.
The Best Original Song was awarded to “Kpop Demon Hunters” for its hit song, “Golden“, with over 1.2 billion streams on Spotify. Timothée Chalamet, who starred as Marty Supreme in the new “Marty Supreme” biographical picture won the award for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture in a Musical or Comedy. During his speech, he thanked his four-year-long partner, Kylie Jenner, for being a large support system in his life. Rose Byrne won the same award for female actors, after her breathtaking role in “If I Had Legs I’d Kick You“.
The Best Musical or Comedy Motion Picture was awarded to “One Battle After Another“, which features Leonardo DiCaprio. “Hamnet“, released in November, won Best Drama Motion Picture. The main actors in the film, Paul Mescal and Jessie Buckley, shared a heartwarming moment together after their acceptance speech.
The night ended with Glaser’s closing remarks, where she offered a heartfelt and subtle tribute to the late filmmaker Rob Reiner, who recently passed away. After the telecast ended around 11:00 p.m., the talent made their way to exclusive after-parties in the Hollywood area to celebrate their achievements.
