Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 continues the franchise’s tradition of fast-paced combat and heavy weaponry. Players have the option to fight online or take on missions solo. Like previous updates, the game includes a story mode that follows a cast of fan-favorite characters. Throughout the Black Ops series, CIA operatives such as Alex Mason and Frank Woods confront Soviet enemies and dismantle chemical weapons, shifting global power.
As a background for Black Ops 7, Black Ops 1 deals with Alex Mason, who is working with the CIA and gets interrogated about numbers being broadcasted. This leads him to go on missions in places like Cuba and the Soviet Union. In Black Ops 2, Alex and his team are trying to hunt down a Nicaraguan terrorist by the name of Raul Menendez. Cold War deals with Alex and his team again but this time they are looking for a Soviet spy who is trying to destroy the U.S with weapons like missiles.
Black Ops 7 features three new game modes: Multiplayer, Story Mode, and Zombies. Players like the zombies game mode because they brought the mystery box back into the game. A mystery box is when you have enough points you can pay to get a mystery weapon and players get a sense of nostalgia from this. The multiplayer mode was pretty good, the maps were fun and the change with the movement was really good. I had no problem with the multiplayer.
However, the game has received an immense amount of criticism, with reviewers claiming the plot is the weakest in the franchise. At times, the story feels incomplete because of the bad writing and confusing plotpoints. Some players also felt that the game relies too heavily on past versions of the game rather than introducing new villains. Despite this, the game does offer some good features. The graphics, lighting, and character animations are high quality, and immerse players into the world of Black Ops 7. Gameplay elements such as recoil control, explosions, and movement also felt very well-designed.
Overall, the story may disappoint some longtime fans, but the game still delivers a lot of fun, especially for those who have followed the Black Ops series.
