Move over “Invincible”! As of Nov. 19, “Hazbin Hotel” season two has come to an end.
Hazbin Hotel is an adult animated musical series taking place in hell, written by Vivenne Medrano or “Vivziepop”.
“Hazbin Hotel” originally started out with only a pilot, being one of the front runners for Indie Animation. Then after the pilot, the show was in limbo for five years, falling through studio after studio. Eventually Amazon with A24 picked the show up and gave us the first season.
“Hazbin Hotel” follows the princess of hell, Charlie Morningstar, as she runs a hotel to rehabilitate sinners and redeem them so they can go to heaven. The show features almost exclusively big Broadway actors such as Alex Brightman, Keith David, Erika Henningsen, and recently picked up the lead singer of the band Fall Out Boy, Patrick Stump.
Season two takes a much darker tone to the show. Having the secondary antagonist from the first season. Vox, be the season’s main villain. As he plans on starting a war with heaven so he can be God. Every episode features two to three songs sung by different characters.
This season focuses on showing us some of the characters’ backstories and what got them into hell in the first place.
Now as to if I’d recommend this show. I personally would, but I will warn you that this show is not everyone’s cup of tea. It deals with heavy topics and is considered controversial by most religions. But if that doesn’t bother you, then go ahead and give it a watch, and I bet by the end of it you won’t be able to get the songs out of your head.
