Last Thursday, senior Josh Hamblin broke the state record for the 110-meter hurdles. In the region 1 championship, he ran the race with a time of 13.31 seconds, breaking the state record 13.59 which was also set by him earlier this season at the Tri-Utah Farmington super meet. Besides setting a state record in the 110m hurdles, Hamblin finished in first place in the 300m hurdles, 100m dash, and 200m dash.
The girls also had standout performances. In the 100m, senior Sadie Fletcher ran a 12.32 and in the 200-meter, Fletcher ran a 25.83, earning her second and third place in those races respectively. Senior Abigail Hall earned first in the discus throw as well as third in the shot put event.
In the relay races, Weber had a strong performance in the boys and girls 4×800. The girls team earned first in the 4×800, consisting of seniors Grace Rodarte, Dylan Strand, and Kate Lang, and junior Laney Tolman. The boys 4×800 team earned second place and was run by seniors Spencer Jackman, Nicholas Landman, and Wyatt Rich, and junior Erik Bryant.
Overall Weber scored third place for boys, four for girls, and fourth place combined. Those who qualified in this meet for state will be running May 14-16 at BYU in Provo. However, for much of the track team, this was their last meet of the season.
